Repairing a Cat Tree or Scratching Post

With several cats my cat trees seem to need repair periodically. The rope gets destroyed by their claws more frequently than I would like. Of course, this is the trade off for not having damaged furniture.

I’ve had to repair all of the cat trees in my house at some point. I use a u-shaped staple and a hot glue if the underlining material is wood. If it is cardboard I use hot glue and add a staple to the two ends only. I use a nail gun for the u-shaped staples, but you can use a hammer. It’s as simple as removing the old rope and gluing the new rope in place.

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. I always manage to burn myself on the glue. Ouchy.

Ragdoll Cats

How many people have heard of a Ragdoll cat? When I thought of a Ragdoll, it was always Andy and Annie, the dolls. My mother made a pair once and I watched her. Interesting, but I would never go to the trouble of making a doll. I wouldn’t even want to own one. Enough said.

Back to cats. What is a Ragdoll cat. It’s a breed of cats that have blue eyes and mostly white background. Oh, hell. Here’s a picture.

This is Annie Renfield Hinkle and she is a tri-colored Ragdoll and this little girl is mine.

Warrior Cat Book Series

Originally published in September 2011.

I just started my second book in the Warriors saga, by Erin Hunter which is a pen name for three authors. I started reading the first one to help me write a book about my cat and give him a voice. The second one, I have to admit

I absolutely love the books. Just call me a child at heart. They are better than “The Cat Who…” series. What’s delightful about the books?

The cat names:  Tigerclaw, Yellowfang, Mousefur and Fireheart to name a few.

The rituals: naming of the cats, meetings between the clans and the clan structure.

Funny or insulting lines: “Sounds like a pawful”, “I’ll have the other clans shaking in their flea-bitten skins”, “Excitement tingled in his paws”, “What’s a kittypet like you doing out in the woods?” and “Just a two-legged pet”.

Buy it for a child and read it yourself when no one is looking Tell yourself you’re buying it to read to a child—just try one book and you will be hooked.

I wish I’d know about these books when I was reading to my nephew, Kyle.  He loves cats and he liked me to read to him before he went to bed.
